The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its loyalty and support for the national leadership of the party under former Senate President, David Mark.

The party leadership in the state stated that the Imo ADC remains united, focused, and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections despite ongoing legal and political disputes involving the party’s national structure.

Speaking on behalf of the state chapter, Imo ADC Chairman, Professor James Okoroma, reportedly distanced the party from lawsuits challenging the legitimacy of the David Mark-led National Working Committee, insisting that the state chapter neither approved nor participated in such legal actions.

Okoroma emphasized that the party believes in internal dispute resolution mechanisms and warned against litigations capable of creating confusion or weakening the ADC ahead of future elections.

The Imo chapter further maintained that the leadership of David Mark enjoys the confidence of party members and remains crucial to repositioning the ADC as a strong political force in Nigeria.

The reaffirmation of loyalty comes amid ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC following court cases challenging the party’s national leadership structure. However, recent developments showed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) restored recognition of the David Mark-led leadership after a Supreme Court ruling.

Political observers believe the continued support from state chapters such as Imo, Rivers, Lagos, and Zamfara may further strengthen the position of the David Mark-led leadership as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
