President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that Akwa Ibom State will deliver the highest number of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the South South region during the 2027 presidential election.
Akpabio reportedly made the declaration during a consultation meeting with critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Government House in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The meeting was convened as Governor Umo Eno consulted party members over his second term ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to the Senate President, Governor Umo Eno’s leadership style and ability to carry different political interests along have strengthened confidence within the APC ahead of future elections. Akpabio described the governor as a peaceful leader committed to unity and development.
He stated that the growing political cooperation in Akwa Ibom would translate into overwhelming electoral support for President Tinubu and the APC during the next general elections.
The remarks further reinforced ongoing political alignments in Akwa Ibom State, where Akpabio and other APC stakeholders have continued mobilization efforts through structures such as the “ARISE With Renewed Hope Initiative” ahead of 2027.
Political observers, however, note that Akwa Ibom has historically remained a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party, making the battle for the state’s presidential votes one of the key contests to watch in the South South region ahead of the next election cycle.
