The Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) has expressed profound grief over the passing of Nigeria’s immediate past President, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. According to official sources, the former leader died in a London hospital.

In a condolence statement released on Sunday, the Forum’s National Chairman and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Dr. Chris Akomas, described Buhari as “a disciplined, principled, and patriotic Nigerian” whose lifelong dedication to public service left a lasting impact on the nation.

The statement, conveyed to the media by Akomas’ Special Adviser on Media, Comrade Chidi Asonye, highlighted Buhari’s enduring commitment to Nigeria’s progress. “It takes courage, sacrifice, and commitment to achieve what he did. His legacy will remain a reference point in discussions on leadership and national duty,” Akomas said.

On behalf of the Forum, Dr. Akomas extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Federal Government. He encouraged both the family and the nation to find comfort in the former President’s life of service and integrity.

Buhari’s death marks the close of a pivotal chapter in Nigerian political history. From military head of state to democratically elected president, his influence on Nigeria’s democratic evolution was significant. His policies and leadership style continue to spark both national and international discourse.

Dr. Akomas concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul and divine strength for his loved ones and the nation during this time of mourning.
