Chuks Ibegbu, former spokesperson of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has strongly criticized a statement allegedly made by Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, claiming that 99.99% of criminals apprehended in the state over the past three years and three months are Igbo youths.

Reacting to the controversial remark, Ibegbu demanded an immediate retraction from the Governor, describing the statement as not only inaccurate but also deeply offensive and damaging to the image of the Igbo people.

He condemned the assertion as a betrayal, stating, “It is unfortunate that someone of Soludo’s standing would make such a false and disheartening statement against his own people.”

Ibegbu, who also serves as the leader of Nzuko Ndigbo Worldwide, further warned certain Igbo politicians against making disparaging comments or actions that undermine their communities for personal gain.

He called on governors and lawmakers in the South East to enforce anti-open grazing laws in their respective states, stressing that doing so would help restore order in urban and rural areas. “Just recently, I saw herds of cattle roaming freely in Umuahia and Enugu—this is deeply troubling,” he said.

Commenting on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Ibegbu expressed condolences but pointed out that Buhari’s death in London highlights the continued neglect of Nigeria’s healthcare system by both past and present leaders.
