The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it is premature to discuss or decide on its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the party’s interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, clarified that the ADC currently has no preferred aspirant, stressing that the party’s priority is to strengthen its internal structure.

“We don’t have any favourite aspirants or candidates. We are not having any conversation at the moment. Nobody has ever had any conversation about who will be the party’s flag bearer,” Abdullahi said.

He emphasized that the party is focused on building a strong, viable political platform capable of delivering on its mission.

Though speculations have linked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi with interest in the ADC presidential ticket, none of them has officially declared such intention.

The party urged Nigerians to disregard rumours and allow it to concentrate on internal consolidation ahead of 2027.
