The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, has dismissed a recent disclaimer issued by the Police Service Commission (PSC) as inaccurate and misleading.

The PSC had, in a statement dated July 31, 2025, disowned a public advertisement by the Academy announcing the commencement of applications for its 12th Regular Course Degree Programmes, scheduled to run from July 28 to September 8, 2025. The Commission argued that the announcement violated due process and encroached on its constitutional mandate, which, according to its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, includes the exclusive power to appoint individuals into the Nigeria Police Force— a position upheld by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

However, in a rebuttal issued on Friday, the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, Bolaji Kazeem, speaking on behalf of the Police Academy, asserted that the admission process remains valid and ongoing. He clarified that the application exercise is being conducted in accordance with the guidelines set by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs.

Kazeem further emphasized that the PSC plays no constitutional role in university admissions and described its public statement as “legally baseless and misleading.” He urged prospective candidates and the general public to disregard the PSC’s disclaimer, assuring them that the online application portal remains open as earlier advertised.
