The Yobe State Government has announced plans to enhance its medical imaging capabilities through strategic collaborations with international experts and local institutions. This initiative was highlighted during a high-level meeting convened by Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali.

Governor Buni emphasized the urgent need to build capacity in specialized diagnostic fields, stating, “Cardiovascular diseases continue to be a major health challenge in our region. It is now essential to invest in areas like cardiac MRI, renal imaging, and other critical diagnostic services.”

He noted that Yobe already leads the North-East in imaging infrastructure and expressed the state’s ambition to become a hub for medical innovation and health tourism.

The government also reiterated its commitment to supporting health-related research and training programs, especially those involving international collaboration and sustainable infrastructure development.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina stated that the introduction of advanced imaging technologies could revolutionize community healthcare delivery and greatly reduce diagnostic access barriers for underserved populations.
