The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the second tranche of the N35,000 wage award arrears to its workers.

This was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in Abuja.

The OAGF explained that the government had earlier settled one month out of the initial five-month backlog and is now continuing with phased monthly payments.

Dismissing speculations that the government had abandoned the payment, the OAGF reaffirmed its commitment to settling the arrears in full.

“The Federal Government remains committed to its obligations to workers and will sustain the monthly disbursement of N35,000 until the entire arrears are cleared,” the statement read.
