As part of its mission to empower youths and combat poverty, the Solicitude Beyond Borders Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has successfully trained four young individuals from Delta South Senatorial District in modern goat farming techniques.

At the close of the two-week intensive training, the foundation’s founder, Comrade Slater Christopher, highlighted that the programme aims to introduce Nigerian youths to the vast, largely untapped opportunities within agriculture—especially through the use of innovative and modern farming practices.

“Our objective is to drive a farming awareness campaign that encourages Nigerian youths, particularly fresh graduates, to see agriculture as a sustainable and rewarding career path,” Christopher stated. “With limited white-collar job opportunities due to low local production, we believe agriculture can offer a viable route to self-sufficiency and job creation.”

To support this vision, each participant was awarded ₦1.5 million to launch their own goat farming enterprise. According to Christopher, a dedicated team will monitor these businesses to ensure successful implementation and long-term viability.

He further urged the government to adopt youth-friendly policies and incentive-based initiatives, including making it mandatory for NYSC members to engage in a year-long agricultural programme supported by institutions like the Bank of Industry. He emphasized that proper monitoring is essential to ensure impactful outcomes.

The initiative by the Solicitude Beyond Borders Foundation represents a significant stride in redefining youth involvement in agriculture and nurturing a new generation of agripreneurs to drive food security, job creation, and economic development in Nigeria.
