Senator Solomon Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and representative of Ogun West, celebrated his 56th birthday on Sunday by distributing 102 electricity transformers to 435 Community Development Areas (CDAs) across Ogun State’s three senatorial districts.

The initiative, which also includes support for energising the transformers, reflects Adeola’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of improving electricity access nationwide. The transformers—ranging in capacity from 300kVA to 500kVA—were allocated based on the specific power needs of each beneficiary community.

Seventeen local government areas benefited from the distribution, including Yewa North, Ado Odo-Ota, Yewa South, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ipokia, Ijebu North East, Ikenne, Ijebu East, Remo North, Abeokuta South, and Ijebu North.

Speaking during the event at Asade Agunloye Pavilion in Ilaro, Senator Adeola explained that the gesture was in response to numerous public appeals. “It brings me joy to provide light to homes and businesses,” he said, describing the donation as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Tinubu. He also highlighted his ongoing “Light-Up Ogun State” project, which has so far installed over 16,500 solar-powered streetlights across Ogun West and surrounding areas.

Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, praised Adeola as a selfless and responsive leader complementing the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun. Similarly, Ogun State Housing Commissioner Jamiu Omoniyi, who chaired the Central Planning Committee for the event, commended the senator’s contributions. The birthday celebration took place simultaneously across Ogun East, West, and Central senatorial zones.
