The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has accused local gunmen of killing two Fulani herders and ten cattle in an attack that occurred on Tuesday in the Butura district of Bokkos Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the State Chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, identified the deceased herders as Muazzam Aminu and Shapi’iu Abdullahi. He claimed they were ambushed and shot without provocation while returning from grazing. In addition to the fatalities, more than 20 cattle reportedly sustained injuries during the attack.

Babayo stated that the incident was promptly reported to the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), all of whom assured that action would be taken. However, he expressed concern that no tangible steps had yet been implemented.

He acknowledged that the commander of Sector 5 of OPSH, tasked with maintaining peace in the area, visited the scene on Wednesday prior to the funeral rites. Babayo called on Fulani herders and MACBAN members to remain calm and refrain from retaliatory violence.
