The Federal Government has mandated all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to utilise Galaxy Backbone Limited as their primary provider of ICT infrastructure, in line with the Nigeria First Policy.

This directive, issued through a circular from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), reaffirms government’s commitment to maximising investment in the National Information Communications Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB).

Chidi Okpala, spokesperson for Galaxy Backbone, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.

Speaking on the directive, Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Ltd, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, said the agency is strategically positioned to drive the Nigeria First Policy in the ICT sector.

“We have repositioned our organisation so that MDAs experience quality, reliability, and innovation in our services. Our role is to support their digital transformation journey while safeguarding Nigeria’s data within our borders,” Adeyanju stated.

He added that by adopting Galaxy Backbone services, MDAs would accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.

Galaxy Backbone, established by the Federal Government, provides secure connectivity and e-government services aimed at ensuring data sovereignty and enhancing digital governance in Nigeria.
