In Abia State, the controversy surrounding government spending has taken a new twist.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Paul Ikonne, is demanding answers from Governor Alex Otti over what he describes as missing recreational centres said to have cost the state ₦7 billion.

Speaking in Aba through his media aide, Chiagoziem Enoch, Ikonne alleged that the projects captured in the state’s budget performance report cannot be found anywhere in Abia. He accused Governor Otti of playing games with public funds, while subjecting residents to harsh taxation.

Ikonne further criticized the governor’s policies, calling them anti-people and insensitive. He noted that despite increased federal allocations and palliatives after the removal of fuel subsidy, the Otti administration has offered no real relief to Abians.

The APC chieftain also revisited the ongoing ₦54 billion school renovation controversy, insisting that no evidence of the claimed projects exists across several local government areas.

Prince Paul Ikonne is urging Governor Otti to embrace transparency and accountability, stressing that Abians deserve real development and not what he called “budgetary fiction.”
