Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has given an update on the injury sustained by striker Victor Osimhen during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday.

Osimhen limped off in the first half and was replaced by Panathinaikos forward Cyriel Dessers.

Speaking after the game, Chelle confirmed that the Galatasaray striker will undergo further assessment before Nigeria’s next World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

“I can’t say much about Victor for now. He has pain in his ankle, we will see when he wakes up tomorrow,” the Malian tactician told reporters.

“I also have to discuss with the medical team to know whether he will be available for the game,” he added.
