The Abia State Government has announced that all Container Unloader Unions working under the Association of International Traders (AIT) and the Ultimate Importers Association (UIA) in Aba are to participate in a security workshop scheduled for tomorrow, September 16, 2025. The workshop, themed “Threats, Communication and Information Management,” will take place at Panyu Hotels & Resort Limited, Aba, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

According to the government’s directive, the training aims to strengthen security awareness among traders, importers, and container unloaders while improving communication and information management in light of emerging threats affecting businesses in the state.

As part of the arrangements, the executive committees of AIT and UIA have been instructed to suspend all container offloading activities during the workshop hours. The suspension will remain in effect until after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

To ensure compliance, law enforcement agencies have been directed to enforce the temporary freeze on operations. The state government noted that the measure is necessary to allow full participation and ensure that the objectives of the workshop are achieved.
