The Chairperson of the Abia State Civil Service Commission, Pastor Mrs. Eno Jerry Eze, has assured that the ongoing recruitment of health professionals is strictly merit-driven and transparent.
Speaking to newsmen at Government House, Umuahia, after this week’s Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex C. Otti, she emphasized that the process reflects the administration’s vision for a new Abia.
“We are committed to ensuring His Excellency’s dream of a new Abia is upheld, even in recruitment. Our goal is to bring in the most qualified people into the healthcare sector, and we are doing everything possible to achieve that,” she stated.
Six Justice Ministry Staff Dismissed Over Salary Padding
Mrs. Jerry-Eze also confirmed the dismissal of six staff of the Ministry of Justice for their role in salary padding.
She explained that the Civil Service Commission carried out an independent investigation after the ministry’s internal probe, during which the culprits admitted to the crime. The matter, she added, is already before the court.
2,035 Applications, 1,404 Completed CBT Assessment
Providing further updates, Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, revealed that the recruitment process began with 2,035 applications. Out of this number, 1,752 applicants were shortlisted.
He added that 1,404 candidates completed the Computer-Based Test (CBT), conducted in two cohorts — about 1,250 in the first and 187 in the mop-up session.
“The interview for successful candidates from the CBT assessment is currently ongoing,” Kanu disclosed.
