The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the economy.
APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, speaking on a monitored television programme on Monday, accused Atiku of lacking the moral ground to attack the current administration, alleging that he squandered $21 billion meant for electricity projects during his time in office from 1999.
Morka argued that while Nigerians have the right to comment on national issues, leaders who had failed in governance should refrain from criticising others.
“This same Atiku has publicly confessed about how they squandered $21 billion meant to give us electricity. Has he forgotten? Under his watch, they enjoyed an oil windfall but failed to invest in lasting development,” Morka said.
He maintained that the Tinubu government was making economic progress, citing trade surpluses, reduced imports, and stronger non-oil exports, and insisted that Atiku had no credibility to condemn the administration’s policies.
