The Enugu State Police Command has dismissed reports that the country home of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Frank Mbah in Ezimo, Udenu Local Government Area, was attacked by hoodlums.

In a statement issued Sunday night, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, clarified that the claims of an assault on DIG Mbah’s residence and an alleged kidnap attempt on his family were false.

According to Ndukwe, the incident being misrepresented was, in fact, a robbery attempt on September 18, 2025. Police operatives on patrol responded swiftly to a distress call within the Ezimo community and repelled the attackers. Unfortunately, a police officer sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange and later died in the hospital.

He further disclosed that one suspect had been arrested and was assisting investigators in the manhunt for the fleeing criminals.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bitrus Giwa, urged officers to intensify efforts in tracking down the perpetrators and reassured residents of the command’s resolve to curb violent crimes across Enugu State.
