FG Unveils 65th Independence Anniversary Theme

The Federal Government has unveiled the theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebrations, scheduled for October 1, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, announced the theme as: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

According to the statement, the theme underscores the importance of unity, collaboration, and patriotism among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens in driving national peace, prosperity, and progress.

The government said the choice of theme reflects Nigeria’s resilience since gaining independence in 1960, while also emphasizing the need to consolidate past achievements and pursue loftier goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

It added that ministries, agencies, and development partners are expected to align their programmes with the anniversary theme to ensure its message resonates across all sectors of national life.

As part of the activities marking the 65th Independence anniversary, a Juma’at prayer will hold on Friday, September 26, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28. A World Press Conference is also scheduled for Monday, September 29, in Abuja.
