Police to Begin Tinted Glass Law Enforcement October 2 Despite Court Challenge

The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its plan to commence enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Tinted Glass Law on Thursday, October 2, 2025, despite ongoing legal challenges.

Force spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Sunday via X (formerly Twitter), clarified that the filing of court papers against the policy does not amount to a suspension of enforcement.

“Mere service of court papers is not equal to a court order,” Hundeyin stated, adding that only a valid judicial ruling can halt the process.

His remarks followed viral claims that the police were barred from enforcing the regulation after copies of a court filing surfaced online.

The controversy has left many motorists uncertain about potential penalties, pending the outcome of the court case.
