Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully repelled multiple coordinated terrorist attacks across several locations in Borno and Yobe States, dealing a devastating blow to insurgents in the early hours of October 23, 2025.

According to military sources, the attacks, which occurred between midnight and 4 a.m., targeted troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, situated in Sector 1 (Borno State) and Sector 2 (Yobe State) respectively. Despite the intensity of the assaults, troops held their ground, fought with exceptional bravery, and decisively overpowered the terrorists.

The successful counteroffensive was bolstered by precision airstrikes from the Air Component Command of OPHK, guided by real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets. These joint operations enabled troops to launch a coordinated and overwhelming response.

In total, more than 50 terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered a large cache of weapons, including 38 AK-47 rifles, 7 PKT machine guns, 5 RPG tubes, 2 GPMGs, several hand grenades, and thousands of rounds of assorted ammunition. Over 70 wounded insurgents reportedly fled the battlefield and are being tracked by ground forces with air support.

Intelligence reports indicate that the terrorists who attacked Dikwa and Gajibo infiltrated from the Cameroon axis, while those who struck Katarko originated from the Timbuktu Triangle, a known insurgent hideout.

Although some soldiers sustained injuries and a few vehicles and structures were damaged—particularly in Mafa and Dikwa, where parts of the defensive lines were briefly breached—the wounded personnel are reported to be in stable condition.

The Military High Command has commended the courage and determination of the troops, describing their performance as a testament to the Nigerian military’s renewed strength and unwavering resolve to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity, especially with the recent deployment of additional forces and advanced combat equipment to the theatre of operations.
