The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a significant reduction in the cost of the 2026 Hajj, lowering fares for intending pilgrims from over ₦8 million to approximately ₦7.6 million.

NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, confirmed the revised fares in an interview with DCL Hausa from Saudi Arabia, stating that the adjustment follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerians.

“The review means each pilgrim will now pay over ₦760,000 less compared to last year’s fare,” Professor Pakistan explained. The reductions were achieved after recent negotiations between NAHCON and Saudi Arabian service providers.

Under the new structure, pilgrims from Adamawa and Borno States will pay ₦7.5 million instead of the previously announced ₦8.3 million. Other northern states will pay ₦7,669,769, down from ₦8,457,685, while pilgrims from southern states will now pay ₦7,991,141, reduced from ₦8,784,085.

The commission also set December 5, 2025, as the final deadline for all intending pilgrims to complete their payments for the 2026 Hajj.

This move is aimed at easing financial burdens for Nigerian pilgrims and encouraging greater participation in the annual spiritual journey.
