Adamawa Governor Urges Turkey-Bound Scholars to Excel as State Ambassadors

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has called on 100 postgraduate students awarded scholarships to study in Turkey to uphold discipline and serve as exemplary ambassadors of the state throughout their academic pursuits.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, delivered the charge on Monday during a pre-departure orientation held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Yola.

Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to advancing education through sustained investment in human capital development. He advised the scholars to remain focused on their studies, avoid misconduct, and steer clear of individuals who might expose them to drugs or other risks.

“You should always remember your purpose in Turkey and prioritize your studies. You are expected to represent your families and the state with dignity at all times,” he said.

Dr. Umar Garba Pella, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, noted that the beneficiaries were selected on merit from over 5,000 applicants under the “Fintiri Win Project” across all 21 local government areas. He added that the scholarships cover four major fields: Engineering, ICT, Architecture, and Medical Sciences.

Pella urged the scholars to adhere to institutional rules and make the most of what he described as a life-changing opportunity.

Dr. Joshua Kwanamu, Executive Director of the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund, described the event as a landmark achievement for the state’s educational development and commended Governor Fintiri’s leadership.

Speaking on behalf of parents, Mallam Salihu Sabana expressed gratitude to the government for its people-focused initiatives and assured continued support for the students.

On behalf of the scholarship recipients, Mr. Trust Joseph thanked the state government for the opportunity, describing it as a rare privilege and a testament to the confidence in Adamawa’s youth. He emphasized that investing in young people is synonymous with investing in the state’s future.
