Nutrition International has announced that preparations for the next round of the Maternal and New Child Health Week (MNCHW) campaign are now at an advanced stage. The disclosure was made during a review meeting with key stakeholders in Sokoto State on Thursday.

The meeting assessed the challenges encountered during the previous MNCHW exercise and outlined strategies for improvement. An official, who spoke with our correspondent, confirmed that comprehensive details of the upcoming campaign will be released by authorised officers in due course.

Discussions at the meeting centred on ensuring that mothers and children aged 0–59 months in Sokoto State have access to essential survival interventions. These include providing Vitamin A supplements to 85 percent of children aged 6–59 months and administering Albendazole to all children aged 12–59 months. Data from the last MNCHW round guided the dialogue on challenges and solutions for the forthcoming cycle.

According to Ayobami Oyedeji, the Nutrition International State Coordinator, preparations agreed upon include supplying Vitamin A (red and blue) capsules, supporting community mobilisation across all 244 wards, setting up an operations room for data validation, and strengthening collaboration with ward development chairmen.

Representatives of partner organisations—Helen Keller International, Action Against Hunger, Life Helpers Initiative, Catholic Relief Services, and RUWOYD—also delivered goodwill messages.
The next MNCHW campaign is scheduled to hold from November 24 to 28, 2025.
