Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has formally dispatched 98 students selected under the state’s scholarship programme to the United Kingdom, where they will pursue postgraduate studies. The send-off took place at an airport ceremony, marking the second group of beneficiaries to depart under the initiative.
The scheme is designed to sponsor talented young Ebonyians for advanced degrees abroad, covering tuition, accommodation, and living expenses so they can focus fully on their studies. The governor encouraged the scholars to excel academically and to return home ready to contribute to the state’s growth.
Nwifuru described the programme as part of his wider efforts to invest in human capital and create opportunities that he himself did not have, hoping that the beneficiaries’ overseas education will bring valuable knowledge and experience back to Ebonyi State.
Officials noted that this latest group follows an earlier batch of scholarship recipients and forms part of a long-term strategy to build a skilled and globally competitive workforce for the state’s future development.
