IPOB Faults Authorities for Jailing Leader While Violence Escalates Nationwide

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has criticised the Federal Government over the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, saying authorities are concentrating on his prosecution instead of tackling growing security problems across the country.

In a statement released by the group’s media office, IPOB argued that the legal action against Kanu is unjust and politically driven. The group claimed that while the government presses forward with the case, violent incidents and attacks in several parts of Nigeria continue to rise without adequate response.

IPOB said national leaders should prioritise protecting citizens and stabilising troubled regions rather than committing major state resources to a single defendant. It maintained that the situation reflects misplaced priorities in handling the country’s broader security challenges.

The organisation further called on President Bola Tinubu to publicly defend the continued imprisonment of Kanu, insisting that fairness and transparency must guide the justice process. IPOB added that resolving what it described as legal and political grievances would help reduce tensions and improve trust in government institutions.
