At least 28 people have been killed in a brutal attack on Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, on Sunday evening. The assailants, armed with guns, also injured several others before fleeing the scene, leaving the community in shock.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the incident as a “deep tragedy” and assured that the state government is taking immediate steps to bring the perpetrators to justice. Security forces have been deployed to the area, and investigations are already underway to track down those responsible.

The governor visited the affected families, offering condolences and pledging government support for medical treatment, compensation, and rehabilitation. He also called on residents to stay calm, avoid panic, and cooperate with authorities as security measures are intensified.

To contain the situation, a temporary 48-hour curfew was imposed in the affected area, giving security agencies the opportunity to secure the community and prevent further attacks.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens across Plateau State and urged communities to report suspicious activities to help avert future violence.
