ABUJA, NIGERIA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, officially commissioned the new corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The inauguration marks a major milestone in the federal government’s efforts to strengthen tax administration and boost revenue generation. The agency, formerly known as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was recently restructured and renamed as part of broader economic reforms.
The government says the transformation is aimed at improving efficiency in tax collection and reducing Nigeria’s dependence on oil revenue.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by top government officials, including Chairman of the tax board, Zacch Adedeji; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The newly unveiled complex is a large, modern facility designed to enhance productivity. It features 16 floors and three office towers, with the capacity to accommodate up to 3,000 staff.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu described the building as a symbol of integrity and progress, noting that it reflects the administration’s commitment to economic growth and institutional development.
The new headquarters is expected to play a key role in driving Nigeria’s revenue reforms and supporting long-term national development goals.
