Okpe, Oyede Stand Out as CCC League Season Wraps Up in Style

The latest season of the Club Cricket Committee (CCC) Lagos League ended on a high note, with standout performances from Sylvester Okpe and Leke Oyede dominating discussions as teams and players were recognised for their achievements.

Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association Cricket Club emerged champions of the Premier League after edging out defending winners Rising Stars Cricket Club, while Government College Ughelli Old Boys clinched the Division One title. Island Titans CC also celebrated success after winning the 40-over competition, and Ikorodu Queens lifted the women’s crown.

Individual awards drew significant attention, with Nigeria men’s team captain Sylvester Okpe excelling for Government College Ibadan Old Boys. He finished as both Most Valuable Player and Best Batter in the Premier division, highlighting his influence throughout the campaign.

In the 40-over category, former Yellow Greens player Leke Oyede delivered an impressive all-round performance, earning recognition as MVP and Best Bowler for his club side. His contributions were widely praised across the competition.

The women’s division saw Eboka Teniola of Warriors CC shine brightest, securing multiple honours including MVP, Best Batter, and Best Bowler, while Temitope Onikoyi was named Best Fielder.

Other categories also featured strong performances, with various players across clubs picking up accolades for consistency and impact.

Officials and stakeholders involved in the league commended the organisation of the competition, describing it as a key platform for developing cricket talent in Nigeria. They also acknowledged the continued support from partners, which helped ensure a successful season and smoother operations across all divisions.
