A coalition of traditional rulers in Umunneochi Abia State has honoured President Bola Tinubu with a cultural title, describing the gesture as a mark of appreciation for his administration’s engagement with the region.

The event took place in Umunneochi Local Government Area, where community leaders gathered alongside political stakeholders to celebrate what they called a renewed connection between the area and the federal government. The monarchs said the recognition was inspired by Tinubu’s decision to include an indigene of the community, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, in his cabinet.

According to the organisers, the conferment goes beyond symbolism, reflecting their expectation of sustained development and stronger representation at the national level. They expressed optimism that the relationship would translate into tangible benefits for the area.

A representative of the president, who attended the occasion, conveyed his gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. The envoy also urged residents to continue supporting government programmes and initiatives.

The ceremony attracted a large turnout of locals, traditional leaders, and political figures, underscoring the enduring role of cultural institutions in recognising public service and fostering unity between leaders and their communities.
