Nigerian music executive and founder of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, has dismissed allegations that some artistes under his label receive more attention and promotion than others.
Speaking during an interview on the Crea8torium podcast, the music producer explained that it would make no business sense for a record label to invest heavily in an artiste only to deliberately ignore or sideline the person.
According to Don Jazzy, decisions concerning the release of songs are often influenced by the artistes themselves. He stated that some musicians choose to release only a few songs within a year despite having several unreleased tracks available.
The Mavin boss also revealed that many artistes battle self doubt and imposter syndrome, which sometimes affects their confidence and willingness to put out new music consistently.
He maintained that there is no official policy within the label that gives preference to one artiste over another, stressing that every artiste signed to the label is important to the company’s growth and success.
Founded in 2012, Mavin Records has produced several successful Nigerian artistes including Rema, Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, Bayanni, Magixx, and Crayon.
