The Oru West Youth Assembly has declared its support for Hon. Deacon Obioma Okorie’s aspiration for the Oru West State Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly, describing his ambition as “long overdue” considering his longstanding contributions to community development and youth empowerment.
The group made its position known during a stakeholders and youth engagement meeting held in Oru West, where members praised Hon. Obioma Okorie for his consistent humanitarian activities, grassroots connection and unwavering support for the people over the years.
Speaking on behalf of the assembly, the leadership of the youth body stated that Hon. Obioma Okorie has already demonstrated capacity, compassion and commitment to service even without occupying any political office, adding that his entry into elective politics is a welcome development for the constituency.
According to the group, the House of Assembly hopeful has continued to impact lives positively through scholarship programmes, support for the less privileged, provision of solar powered street lights and drilling of boreholes in different communities across Oru West.
The youth assembly further noted that Hon. Obioma Okorie’s achievements as a successful businessman and entrepreneur have positioned him as a leader with the experience and exposure needed to attract development opportunities to the constituency. They also commended his role as an employer of labour with hundreds of people under his payroll.
“His ambition is long overdue because he has already shown capacity for leadership and service. Oru West needs a man who understands the people, feels their pains and has the ability to deliver results. Hon. Obioma Okorie has consistently proven himself in that regard,” the group stated.
The youths also described him as a humble, educated and accessible leader whose passion for humanity has earned him respect among different segments of society. They maintained that his growing popularity across Oru West is a reflection of the confidence people have in his leadership qualities and development driven vision.
