The Enugu State Government and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) have agreed to collaborate in ensuring quality and cost-effective execution of infrastructural projects across the state.
This commitment was reaffirmed on Wednesday when members of the NIQS paid a courtesy visit to Governor Peter Mbah at the Government House, Enugu, as part of their national workshop and induction of new members.
Speaking during the visit, NIQS President, Mr. Kene Nzekwe, commended the Mbah administration for its widespread infrastructural drive, noting that the scope and scale of ongoing projects reflect a strong commitment to development.
“The development and growth of any country or state are highly dependent on its level of infrastructural development and the commitment of the leadership to continue to ensure infrastructure delivery,” Nzekwe said.
He pledged the institute’s readiness to partner with the Enugu State Government in the planning, execution, and management of construction projects to ensure quality outcomes.
In response, Governor Mbah expressed appreciation for the institute’s support and emphasized his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient use of public funds.
“Immediately after my swearing-in, I signed Executive Order 001, which essentially speaks to transparency,” the governor said. “Our governance is built on transparency, accountability, and traceability of funds. That is why we find your profession indispensable. We are committed to getting value for every naira spent in Enugu.”
Governor Mbah also noted that over 2,000 projects are either ongoing or completed across the state, stressing the importance of collaboration with professionals like quantity surveyors to ensure sustainable infrastructure development.
