The Nigeria Police Force has announced the promotion of its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The elevation, approved by the Police Service Commission, recognizes DCP Adejobi’s exemplary service, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to the values of modern policing.

Adejobi was first appointed as FPRO in an acting capacity on February 16, 2022, when he was a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding then Commissioner of Police Frank Mba. His appointment was later confirmed by former Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd). Since then, he has distinguished himself by spearheading key reforms aimed at enhancing police transparency, strengthening public confidence, and modernizing the force’s communication systems.

An alumnus of the University of Ibadan, DCP Adejobi holds a combined honours degree in Archaeology and Geography, as well as a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. He previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State between 2008 and 2016, gaining extensive experience in law enforcement communications and public engagement.

With decades of service in police operations and public relations, DCP Adejobi is widely respected for his advocacy for ethical policing and improved police-citizen relations. His promotion is seen as a testament to his enduring impact on the force’s image and strategic direction.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated Adejobi on his new rank, encouraging him to continue upholding the principles of integrity, discipline, and service. The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its dedication to recognizing merit and professionalism as part of its broader reforms to enhance service delivery nationwide.
