The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has acknowledged that the Bola Tinubu-led administration cannot resolve all the challenges facing the capital but emphasized that significant efforts are being made to enhance residents’ quality of life.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike addressed concerns surrounding project commissioning and the scope of ongoing development initiatives within the FCT.

“I won’t claim that every issue has been resolved. It’s impossible for any government, even one in power for 20 years, to solve all problems,” he said. “However, we are tackling issues that directly improve people’s lives.”

Responding to questions about the selective commissioning of projects, Wike explained that the administration prioritizes showcasing high-impact, capital-intensive projects. “We can’t commission every single project. We highlight those where billions of naira have been invested. For smaller projects, is it really necessary to commission all of them?” he asked.

He urged media stakeholders to partner with the administration by visiting project sites with Mandate Secretaries to independently assess progress in sectors like education and social development.

“We’re not claiming perfection. But we are deliberately focusing on initiatives that make a real difference, which is what governance should be about,” Wike added.
