The Abia State Government has lauded the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for its effective service delivery in identity registration and data management across the state.
The commendation was given by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, when he received the NIMC State Coordinator, Mr. Ukpabi Eni, and his delegation on a courtesy visit to his office at the Government House, Umuahia.
Professor Kalu described identity management as a vital tool for planning, governance, and public service delivery. He noted that Governor Alex Otti’s administration remains committed to systems that promote transparency, accountability, and development.
He cited initiatives such as the Abia Leadership Academy, aimed at empowering young people with skills for self-reliance, as part of the state’s broader developmental goals.
The SSG urged the Commission to continue upholding professionalism and efficiency to strengthen public trust in its operations.
Earlier, Mr. Ukpabi Eni said the visit was in line with a directive from the NIMC national headquarters to engage with strategic stakeholders across the country. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the commission and the Abia State Government.
In his vote of thanks, a member of the delegation, Mr. Moses Ejiogu, praised the SSG for the warm reception and reaffirmed the commission’s readiness to deepen collaboration with the state.
