Tinubu Government Clears ₦2.3bn Arrears for University Staff Nationwide

The Federal Government has approved and released ₦2.3 billion to offset unpaid salary and promotion arrears owed to staff of federal universities nationwide.

In a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, confirmed that the payment—classified as Batch 8 arrears—was processed through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).

Dr. Alausa noted that the initiative demonstrates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolve to address inherited financial obligations and enhance the welfare of both academic and non-academic personnel in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
