Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oke Ogun, Oyo State, have declared their unwavering support for Governor Seyi Makinde, describing his administration as one of the most transformative in the state’s history.
This endorsement followed a major stakeholders’ meeting at LA Demonstration School Field in Iseyin, where party chieftains and executives from all ten local governments in the Oke Ogun zone gathered to review party affairs and set new political strategies.
The meeting came shortly after the resignation of former party stalwart Senator Hosea Agboola. However, rather than weakening the PDP, members said the development had “reenergised” the party, calling it a “blessing in disguise” that would help strengthen its grassroots base.
Among those in attendance were Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal; former House of Representatives member and Ayedero of Yorubaland, Shina Peller; and PDP Board of Trustees member, Hamid Gbadamosi. The ten local government chairmen reaffirmed the party’s unity and commitment to Governor Makinde’s vision of inclusive and sustainable governance.
Speaking to reporters, Peller emphasised the importance of periodic engagement with stakeholders to sustain internal unity and connect with the grassroots. He praised Governor Makinde as a visionary leader whose reforms have brought “stability, growth, and renewed purpose” to Oyo State.
Party leaders also commended Makinde’s achievements in road infrastructure, agricultural advancement, and social welfare across Oke Ogun, citing these as proof of his balanced development agenda.
A communiqué read by Adejumobi Samuel Ademola reaffirmed the zone’s loyalty to the governor and the PDP, while urging greater unity and youth involvement. The stakeholders resolved to intensify membership drives, attract professionals, and reinforce the party’s dominance in the state ahead of future elections.
