Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member Representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, has released a conciliatory statement urging citizens to remain peaceful, reflective, and united in response to Thursday’s court judgment that has stirred strong emotions across communities.

In the statement dated Thursday, 20 November 2025, Aguocha acknowledged the widespread disappointment felt by many, noting that the passion surrounding the case is understandable. However, he emphasized that this moment calls for restraint, collective responsibility and wisdom, not actions that may heighten tension or disrupt public order.

Aguocha maintained that although he and many others believe the ruling deserves urgent appellate review, the path forward must remain rooted in constitutional and legal processes. He stressed that even when judicial outcomes appear unsatisfactory, challenges must be pursued strictly within the law and never through disorderly means.

He urged Nigerians to place trust in the judiciary and allow the appellate process to run its full course. “Now more than ever,” he stated, “we must temper our reactions with calm reflection and a shared commitment to peace.”

Beyond the immediate legal concerns, Aguocha called for constructive political engagement at the highest levels of government. Issues with significant national and regional implications, he said, demand more than legal remedies—they require dialogue, empathy, and statesmanship. He reaffirmed that in a democracy “no victor, no vanquish” should be the guiding philosophy.

As the nation navigates this tense period, the federal lawmaker encouraged citizens to stay guided by unity, hope, and a determination to build a better and more harmonious Nigeria rooted in peace and justice.

The statement was signed by Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha.
