The Edo State Government has stepped in to cover the complete educational expenses of the three children of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who lost his life while serving in active military duty.
Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the scholarship package as a way of honouring the fallen officer and ensuring his children’s education is not disrupted. The support will take care of their schooling from their current levels through to university.
According to a statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting families of personnel who die in service to the nation and investing in human capital development.
The beneficiaries include an 18-year-old university student studying Software Engineering, a secondary school student preparing for final examinations, and a junior secondary school pupil. The state government said it considers the gesture a moral duty and a way of preserving the legacy of service members who die in the line of duty.
Governor Okpebholo added that no child of a fallen Edo hero should be denied the opportunity to achieve their potential, describing the intervention as part of his administration’s broader social welfare agenda.
