Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued a kidnapped woman and recovered N8 million in ransom during an operation in Plateau State.
The mission, carried out on April 25, 2026, took place in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, following the victim’s abduction from the Bauna area of Shendam LGA on April 19.
According to Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force, the breakthrough came after intelligence obtained from an arrested suspect led troops to the victim’s location in Padam Forest.
He confirmed that the operation resulted in the successful rescue of the victim and the recovery of ransom money previously paid by her family. The funds have since been returned.
After the rescue, the victim was taken to General Hospital, Shendam, for medical checks before being reunited with her family.
Meanwhile, security forces have intensified operations in the forests of Qua’an Pan and Shendam to track down other members of the kidnapping group and dismantle the criminal network.
