The Cross River State Government has called for closer collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to improve medical education and boost training opportunities for healthcare professionals in the state.
During a recent engagement, state health officials stressed the need for stronger institutional ties with the Navy, particularly in the area of residency training programmes for doctors and other medical personnel. They noted that such partnerships would help address gaps in specialist training and improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the state.
According to officials, the state is seeking to leverage the Navy’s medical facilities and expertise to expand practical training for doctors, especially in specialised fields where capacity remains limited.
They also highlighted that enhanced cooperation would support continuous medical education and help retain skilled professionals within the state’s health system.
The Navy, on its part, is expected to play a supportive role in providing structured training opportunities and strengthening existing healthcare collaboration frameworks between both institutions.
The move is part of broader efforts by Cross River to upgrade its healthcare system and expand access to quality medical services for residents.
