Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obasa reportedly made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege, Lagos, where he said leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the constituency had urged him to step forward and represent them at the federal level.
The long serving Lagos lawmaker, who currently represents Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, stated that his decision was driven by consultations with party stakeholders and supporters across the constituency.
During the meeting, Obasa also reportedly endorsed some loyalists seeking seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly, calling on APC members to remain united and mobilize support ahead of the party primaries.
His declaration adds to the growing political activities within Lagos APC as aspirants begin consultations and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political observers believe Obasa’s entrance into the House of Representatives race could significantly reshape the political structure in Agege, considering his longstanding influence in Lagos politics and his years of leadership within the State Assembly.
