The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has voiced concerns over alleged plans by the current administration to undermine the party’s growing influence through judicial interference.

Speaking in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the ADC’s National Legal Support Group, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman, Senator Mark warned that legal tactics could be employed to stall the party’s rise ahead of the 2027 elections.

Abdurrahman revealed that over 310 lawyers have pledged their services to defend the party in ongoing and future legal battles across the country. He noted that the legal team has representation in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, and is well-prepared to respond to any legal challenge the ADC may face.

Prominent legal figures supporting the party include ADC Legal Adviser Barrister Peter Oyewole, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami (SAN), and former Edo State Governor Professor Oserheimen Osunbor. Abdurrahman praised the current leadership for steering the party in a progressive direction and urged Barrister Oyewole to ensure legal teams are updated and equipped with all relevant documentation.

In response, Oyewole affirmed that all legal steps concerning the party’s recent coalition were properly followed and assured members that there was no need for concern.

However, Senator Mark maintained his stance, stating, “The ADC is the party to watch in 2027. There may be attempts to weaponize the courts against us, but we must stay vigilant.” He called on Nigerians to rally behind the ADC as a credible alternative to lead the country, commending the legal team for their commitment and urging continued readiness as the party sets its sights on the next general elections.

With a growing base and a solid legal framework, the ADC declared its readiness to defend its ideals and actively participate in the 2027 political landscape.
