The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Abdullahi, has revealed that the party is making efforts to woo former member and 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, back into its ranks.

Speaking during a monitored televised interview on Thursday, Abdullahi described Obi, a former PDP vice presidential candidate and ex-Governor of Anambra State, as a political asset and “a product of the PDP.”

Naija News recalls that Peter Obi exited the PDP ahead of the 2023 general elections and secured the Labour Party’s presidential ticket. He contested against Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Despite coming third in the election, Obi won 12 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, and garnered over six million votes—an achievement Abdullahi attributed to Obi’s popularity and credibility.

“Peter Obi is our product, and the PDP indeed wants to get him back. He is a very great capital for any political party, and any political party that will have him will be to their advantage,” Abdullahi stated, while also alleging the 2023 election was marred by rigging and manipulation.
