The Adamawa State Government has approved a N22.8 billion virement within its revised 2025 budget, aimed at funding key initiatives, including the construction of a camping complex for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. This decision was reached during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Wednesday.

According to the State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Emmanuel Pridimso, the virement falls within the existing 2025 budget framework of N486.2 billion. He explained that the reallocation is necessary to fund new priority projects and support ongoing government operations.

Out of the N22.8 billion, N8 billion has been designated for recurrent expenditure. This is intended to address rising overhead costs, as many ministries have reportedly exhausted their allocated funds due to increasing operational demands.

Also addressing the press, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Neido Geoffrey, revealed that the Council discussed the recent return of 13 trafficked children originally from Adamawa who were rescued in Anambra State.

In light of the incident, the Council advised parents and guardians to be vigilant and avoid sending children on errands during unsafe hours to prevent future occurrences of child trafficking.
