PDP Has Approached Peter Obi for Possible Return – Jerry Gana

Founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Professor Jerry Gana, has disclosed that the party has initiated moves to woo former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, back into its fold.

Gana made the revelation during an appearance on AIT’s Focus Nigeria programme on Friday.

Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, resigned from the PDP on May 25, 2022—just days before its presidential primary—citing internal developments that, according to him, hindered “constructive contributions.”

Responding to a question on whether the PDP had made contact with Obi regarding a possible return, Gana said, “Why not?”

He continued, “He [Obi] is not the only person. We are also reaching out to others. But I don’t want to make announcements until the deals are concluded.

“I now have a very solid platform. I can go back to these people and say, ‘The platform you were complaining about is now set, proper, and ready to move.’ I know many of them would respond.”
