Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has suspended 87 top government officials for failing to attend a key government function.

The suspended individuals include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.

In a statement released on Monday night by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, the governor ordered a one-month working suspension for the affected officials, during which they will forfeit their salaries.

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, also prohibits the officials from signing any official documents throughout the duration. Additionally, the commissioners have been directed to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries.

“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function,” the statement read.

Uzor emphasized that Governor Nwifuru remains committed to instilling discipline and promoting a culture of accountability and dedication within the state’s public service.
