Nigeria’s Amy Okonkwo Crowned MVP as D’Tigress Dominate 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket

Nigeria’s D’Tigress cemented their dominance in African women’s basketball by securing a historic fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title on Sunday in Abidjan, defeating Mali 78–64 in the final.

The tournament’s standout performer, Amy Okonkwo, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the second straight edition after a stellar 19-point, nine-rebound, and three-assist display in the championship game.

While no official Best Coach award was given, Nigeria’s Rena Wakama received widespread acclaim for her leadership in guiding the team to another gold medal.
