The Gauteng provincial government is set to host a community engagement session in Soweto on Thursday as part of its awareness campaign for the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled to take place in Johannesburg this November.

This initiative aims to inform residents about the significance of the summit and how it could potentially benefit township communities.

Vuyo Mhaga, spokesperson for the Gauteng government, emphasized the importance of this gathering, stating, “For example, there will be CCTV cameras installed in this community following the leaders’ summit. Additionally, we are addressing the need for improved street lighting and road surfacing. We will also discuss potential disruptions due to road closures during the event.”

Furthermore, the government plans to introduce a tourism package highlighting attractions in Gauteng. “When you are in Gauteng, what else do you want to see? If a meeting concludes at 1 PM, we want to ensure there are engaging places for visitors to explore,” Mhaga added.

Residents are encouraged to attend the session to learn more about the summit and its implications for their community.
